Weekend Outing

This weekend we took our first big outing with the babe.  We have been wanting to go check out the new City Creek Center since it opened a couple months ago, but have just been so busy we haven't had a chance.  Baby was a dream from the minute we left the house until we returned home.  Apparently he likes to shop :)  City Creek is so awesome too.  We can't believe how nice it is!
In other news, Wren is doing this new daddy thing like it's no one's business.  He has changed almost every diaper this weekend, and with a baby that poops about 10 times a day, it's been so so nice!  He took Racdcliff on early morning walks so I could sleep in and so Cliffy Boy could "see the world", he folded laundry, made breakfasts, and has just been so cute with our baby.  Radcliff has a good, good daddy, and I have such an incredible husband.
We are thankful :)
Now it's almost the second week of me doing this baby thing alone while Wren is at work during the day.  It's been an adjustment and Radcliff and I are learning together, but I have loved every minute of it!

Chocolate Heaven

When we first moved into the neighborhood, a sweet neighbor brought us over soft, amazing, memorable (too memorable) chocolate cookies.  It's all Wren and I could think about for days.  They were the best cookies we've ever eaten and have thought about them since.  Well a couple nights ago we were sitting on the couch, and the cookies came up.  Again.  We debated whether they were homemade or store bought (they were wrapped so cute we couldn't tell), and if store bought, where they could have been from.  We'd a killed for them.  Well leave it to my handy man guy, he started looking up chocolate cookie recipes and ended up executing them to a T.
What a guy will do for his pregnant wife right?
What a sweetie.
They were SO easy and SO good I'd feel guilty not sharing.
Here's how he made them:
*One box of Betty Crocker's Moist Devil's Cake Mix
*1/2 cup vegetable oil
*2 eggs
Mix them together.
Roll into balls, dip in powdered sugar, and bake on 350 for 8-10 minutes.
Pure heaven I tell ya, pure heaven.

Baby's Nursery... Check, Check, Check

The babe's room is slowly but surely coming along.  We have the light hung, the crib set up, little hooks hung for his baby man hats, this dresser and wall collage ready to go, as well as the window coverings up.  The last couple things I need to do is decide on bedding, and my husband's going to cringe when I say this, and maybe paint one more wall...???  Wren?  Are you still with me? :)  We left one wall of wallpaper up in his room mostly because we couldn't bare to take another wall of wallpaper down during hell month.  I really liked it at first, especially after we'd painted the other three walls, but now because our crib is gold and the wallpaper has some gold in it, I feel it doesn't make the crib pop like I want it to.  Wren... can we paint over the wallpaper?  I won't even ask you to take it down.  Just paint?  :)  And if yes, can we do something like this? :)
I would even love more than this, just big chunky red and white stripes.
Maybe like this...
You guys, Wren's the master at painted stripes on walls.  He has already done such fun stuff to some of our walls and he is Particular Pete when it comes to it (I can't wait to share all of it with you once the finishing touches to each room are done!) so, MAYBE he'll do this for me?
(Check yes or no in comments honey)
And then as far as bedding goes, I think I am going to stick with all white bedding.  Maybe something like this...
Again, I want the crib to pop, not the bedding.
And while we are on the subject of painted stripes, could you not die over this hallway?
Maybe I'll ask Wren to do this in like five years :)
It's funny to look back on this post and see how far we've come since then.
Do you guys have any suggestions for me in regards to the baby's room?
Or fun links of cute images of nurseries?
I would LOVE your input!

Wren's Gradubirthdayation Party!

Wren finished school last December and was planning on walking this Spring, but because of all mayhem with the house and trying to get moved in, we completely spaced it.  Bad wife right here.  Anyway, his sweet parents threw the cutest graduation/birthday party for him and invited both of our families.  His dad bought super soakers and we all got wet.  The babies loved them.
Go Wren!  You're officially done with school!  For awhile anyways :)
AND officially 26.  Welcome to the club.  It don't feel pretty does it?
Kidding.
We're spring chickens :)

Wren's Birthday Date

(I know, the maternity pants and Tevas are just too much)
On Wren's birthday last week I surprised him with getting him off of work at noon.  We headed up to the house so I could see the finished floors.  LOVED THEM (pictures coming this week).  He opened his presents as we sat on the floor of the nursery and it made me so excited thinking of all the birthdays we will celebrate there in the coming years and the memories we will make.
After, I had intended taking him to lunch at Christopher's Steak House, but by the time we got there it was past 2:00 and apparently they close down from 2:00 to 4:00... boo, who does that?  Anyway, we were starving so headed over to Astro Burger (I know, quite the upgrade, ha, but JUST as good!) instead and saw Avengers (worst movie ever, but that's a topic for a different day, I could write PARAGRAPHS).
Friday night I got my game face on and we went and ate dinner at Christopher's Steak House and both loved it.  Baby likes steak and potatoes very much right now.
It felt like the first real date we had gone on in months!
So happy that you were born Wren and that we were able to celebrate your big day in TWO days!

Love you!

Finished Floors and Onto Baseboards

The floors are officially done!  I couldn't be happier with the color or the sheen.
Go YOU Wren, I can't believe how much work you put into them.
Hopefully you're slowly coming down from the poly urethane high?

Saturday we started working on the baseboards.  We decided to go with a 5 1/2 inch high square baseboard.
I love clean and simple and I really like how they are turning out.
Let me tell you what too, base boarding an entire house is no easy task.  I have some weird shooting pain in my butt every time I walk now, I think from sitting on the hard floors for so long.
BUT, they're installed, caulked, puttied, sanded, and half way done being painted.
The last big project and we are moving in and moving on already!

I feel like everything we have done this far has been one big man project, so I splurged a little and went and bought some wallpaper...
I have always wanted a high gloss black wall and I found just the wallpaper for it.
Can't wait to show you once it's up!
But in the meantime, back to the boring man jobs and the millionth trip to Home Depot.

PS I have re-done the links at the top of my blog titled Our Place, and DIY.  They are much easier to navigate through now.  You can catch up with us on our house journey by going to Our Place or find fun tutorials and recipes under DIY.
I'm quite proud about them, so check them out!  :)

Happy Birthday Wren + 32 Weeks + Link Up!

Man:  Found in a cave :)  Ha, that beard is getting mighty rugged.

Today is your birthday Wren.  I can't believe that we are 26 years old.  We have known each other since we were 15.  We're going on knowing each other 11 years.
And now we're have a BABY!?
Insane.
This birthday might not be the funnest because of the house, but next year will be off the hook.
I promise.
You are the hardest worker I know.  I can't even believe how many long hours you have spent at our house making it a home for us and this little babe.  After about a week of spending all my time there, I was worn out.  I couldn't do it anymore, me, the DIY lover.  But YOU, you have somehow worked on that place for going on a month straight.  Leaving work, heading straight up there, and working late into the night.  That is dedication if I have ever seen it.  Thank you SO much for all of it.  I can't wait to move in next week.  We are going to make so many incredible memories there and celebrate so many BIRTHDAYS there.
Happy birthday Jibbs, I love you so much!
And how insane is this?  Our due date is in less than TWO months!  WHAT?!  I can't even believe it and can't wait!
I want to hold our guy like NOW.
