Everest's Nursery!

Okay, I have been meaning to post pictures of Everest's nursery for two months now and am just barely getting around to it. Finally!

This little room has been so many different things since moving in. First, it was Rad's nursery (you can see his current room here too, if you want!), then our makeshift walk in closet, and then a cluttered storage room. It was a lot of work to get it to where it is now but I'm happy to say, it's my favorite room in the house! I love nursing my little Everest Bear in there. It's just bright and happy like him!

Due Date Approaching Rapidly and Nursery Talk!

Well we are officially less than two weeks away from baby's due date. I can't even believe how fast this pregnancy has gone! Like really, sheesh! I had a doctor's appointment last week and was measuring a little bit smaller than normal, so just to be safe, they got me in for an ultrasound the next day to make sure baby was growing normally and to check that I had enough fluid in there. Luckily, both looked great! Lots of fluid and they estimated the baby at about seven and a half pounds. You can come anytime, sweetheart! If I go late like I did with Radcliff, I could end up having a nine pounder. I don't know why that's so funny to me because it's going to hurt like a you know what, but you know what??? As long as baby is healthy I'm happy. Bring on the next little chubby guy! It was fun to see his cute chubby cheeks in the ultra sound. He's head down and ready for blast off!

We are just about finished with his little nursery too! Over the last couple weeks we have painted the dresser, crib, his room, installed molding and doors, and then purchased some nursery necessities. We are going to leave Radcliff in his crib for awhile so we needed all new items that pertain to a crib for the new dude's room. So we are almost there! Every time I walk in it I get excited thinking about our him snoozing in there. I love him so much already! Radcliff is on cloud nine when he walks in too. "New baby's room is sooooo cute Mommy!"

The last two things we need to complete it are to install the wallpaper and pick out a comfy chair. I have been really into comfy, old man looking chairs lately. Tell me I'm not alone in this!? Shackletons has the cutest ones right now! Aren't these all amazing??? Which one is your favorite?

Any last minute advice pertaining to anything labor, hospital, new baby, ways to help your toddler feel included, sleep talk, just ANYTHING, would be greatly appreciated! I'm so excited but also kind of a nervous wreck as well. Times are changing, and they're changing fast!

Radcliff's Big Boy Room + Link Up!

You may have seen Radcliff's first nursery in this post... If you did, then you know we switched it to the bigger room next to it a couple months ago. I wanted him to have more room to play and it just made more sense for this room to be his room (or him's room as we call it). 

Boy was it bad when we first moved in. Can I get an amen!? Wow, we have come a long way since April 20th of last year. That was a dark, dark, day. If you think this room was bad, and are just following along now, check out the whole house here. I can't believe all of the painting, refinishing, ripping out, cleaning, hanging, sewing, you name it, that we've done. It's been so exhausting but is finally paying off! 

But back to Radcliff's room. I know I've said it once and I'll say it a million times over, I love combining new modern pieces with older vintage ones. I think it brings character to any space and especially ties everything into our charming, little old house. Let's be honest, chalkboard walls are all up in everyone's grill right now, but I really wanted a black wall with this Dr. Seuss quote written on it (how cute is that quote?) and a chalkboard wall seemed like the best option for that. Plus when Rad starts drawing, we can move the crib to the other wall and he can go crazy town on it.

+Wicker Side Table: Target (perfect for dark huts and glow sticks, Rad's fave!)

+Rocking Horse: Vintage (Bet you couldn't have guessed that by his luscious locks?)

+Wood Sail Boat: I made courtesy of our front yard tree we chopped down. We are in the process of making a light pendant for his room out of the extra wood as well, tutorial on both coming soon.

+Red Clock: Target

+Birdy Streamer: World Market (I love that store)

Everything in his room is precious to us because it's his. The fun thing about this room is it's pretty gender neutral so whether we have a girl or a boy next (NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT!), it will work! Just throw in some pink and call it good... :)

Radcliff's Nursery Before It's Not + Link Up!

I have held off on posting pictures of Radcliff's nursery because I never felt quite done with it. There has been a list of things I have wanted to make for his room since he was born, but then just that happened... he was born, and life got busy and my list has turned into a list that will sadly never get done. At least for this room, because pretty soon here, when the basement's finished, we are moving our office to the room down there and switching Salty Dog's room to that room which is much bigger. I want him to feel like he has a little bit of room to play in there, plus I'm excited to go with a whole new scheme. 
As excited as I am to switch it up, this little room will always have a place in my heart. It's where he slept all by himself for the first time, where he's been rocked to sleep, read stories to, and my favorite thing... where he's nursed too many times to count. A lot of bonding has gone on in this little room and I would be lying if I said I won't shed a tear when we move everything out. Plus it's just totally quaint and comfy which is what I love.
For his new room, I want something kind of simple with an urban feel to it. Member this post I did clear back in the day when I was only about five months pregnant? So funny to look back on this... I feel my style has changed a lot since then. Here are some nurseries I'm loving right now:

Baby's Nursery... Check, Check, Check

The babe's room is slowly but surely coming along.  We have the light hung, the crib set up, little hooks hung for his baby man hats, this dresser and wall collage ready to go, as well as the window coverings up.  The last couple things I need to do is decide on bedding, and my husband's going to cringe when I say this, and maybe paint one more wall...???  Wren?  Are you still with me? :)  We left one wall of wallpaper up in his room mostly because we couldn't bare to take another wall of wallpaper down during hell month.  I really liked it at first, especially after we'd painted the other three walls, but now because our crib is gold and the wallpaper has some gold in it, I feel it doesn't make the crib pop like I want it to.  Wren... can we paint over the wallpaper?  I won't even ask you to take it down.  Just paint?  :)  And if yes, can we do something like this? :)

You guys, Wren's the master at painted stripes on walls.  He has already done such fun stuff to some of our walls and he is Particular Pete when it comes to it (I can't wait to share all of it with you once the finishing touches to each room are done!) so, MAYBE he'll do this for me?

And then as far as bedding goes, I think I am going to stick with all white bedding.  Maybe something like this...

Nursery Wishlist

I have had a hard time getting excited about decorating and buying baby furniture for a nursery.  A-because I don't know where the nursery is going to be!  B- because I have never been into baby decorating or decorations.  I don't like blue for boys, or pink for girls, or matchy matchy baby furniture.

I have issues, I know...  

Probably the same issues I have for not liking cartoons or Disney movies.

Does that make me a bad mom?

I suppose so.

Regardless, I have decided I am going to make a grown up nursery.  Like a room if there weren't a crib in it, you'd never know a baby lived there.  

Why?  Because I can get really excited about a room like that.

First off, I have been looking and looking at cribs for the past couple months and I haven't liked anything I have seen.  I knew I wanted something way different and eclectic, but everything I could find online looked the same as the next one.  

Well I was browsing KSL, a favorite past-time of mine, and I came across the deal of a lifetime!

This iron crib...   

 

I fell in love!  The lady had it listed for $500, which was higher than I wanted to pay, but she hasn't had it for very long at all, and online brand new on Baby Cribs Boutique it's selling for $1,650 right now!  I had my dad call (he's a wheeler dealer) to see if he could get the price down anymore.  She said she couldn't, but my dad brought up a good point- it's a solid, good crib that I could use for all my babies.  So done, and done, I bought it and am pleased as punch.  

It will be the statement piece in the babe's nursery.  

 I am going to make the bedding (which means my mom will have to be there to help me which means my mom will make it) :), but I am having the hardest time picking fabric!  

I think any of these fabrics would make really cute baby bedding...

 I have actually found wood bookshelves really similar to these on KSL, that I could paint and for the pair they were around $50.  Sweet deal right?  Am I up for a project like that right now though?  Moreover, is WREN up a project like that right now?  Let's face it.. paint fumes=bad for baby=which is very convenient for mommy :)
