Merino Kids Baby Sleep Sack Review!

I was contacted on behalf of Merino Kids, wondering if I'd like to review their Merino Kids Baby Sleep Sack. I was so excited because Bear had a sleep sack he'd been using, but was growing out of very quickly. I jumped at the chance!

When I first opened the package, I saw the sleep sack nicely folded inside a pretty little fabric envelope, with a Merino Kids tag sewed to it...
...it would seriously make the cutest baby shower gift! When I took it out, my first thought was, "This is some serious sleep sack business!" It's made of theeeee nicest and softest material and is super adorable. Every time I slip Bear's chubby little bod into it, I feel like it's almost too nice to sleep in! Honestly. And it's really long, so there's tons of room for him to move around and to grow into. It even has a safety belt aperture so I can easily transfer him in and out of his car seat. How awesome is that!? One of my favorite things about it, is it "naturally absorbs and releases moisture to create the perfect safe micro-climate in any season for rooms 64°F to 80°F." I'm always so worried whether he's too hot or cold at night and if he's getting stuck in his blanket, so this helps ease both of those worries for me.

Here is some information straight from their website that I think sells this sleep sack by itself and the other reasons I'm in love with it!:

  • World's best and #1 top-selling merino sleep sack in the USA and worldwide. Others can't beat Merino Kids' patented iF award-winning design, premium fabric and superior workmanship.
  • For parents who want the very best. Crafted by master tailors from luxuriously soft Superfine Merino wool. 100% natural, itch-free and allergy-safe. Organic cotton outer layer for extra durability.
  • Textile scientists recommend the Merino Kids sleep sack. Baby doesn't wake up cold or overheat. Naturally absorbs and releases moisture to create the perfect safe micro-climate in any season for rooms 64°F to 80°F.
  • First sleep sack in the world to achieve the stringent UK BSI standard for baby sleep sack safety, and the only merino sleep sack certified to this safety standard. Baby has freedom to move yet can't slip underneath or wriggle out.
  • Fits babies 0-2 years safely and comfortably. Innovative safety belt aperture makes it easy to transfer sleeping baby between car seat, stroller and nursery to maintain sleep routine.

Are you sold yet??? They've thought of everything!

We absolutely loooove this sleep sack and would highly recommend it! Thank you, Merino Kids, for helping parents sleep a little more soundly at night, knowing their babies are comfortable and safe!

What I Know You Need

So... This week's favorites are:
(Sorry I missed last week!)

1. I have seen lots of people fill in their eyebrows over my long, almost THIRTY year, lifetime (Yikes, thirty?!) Some are good. Some are baaaaad. But it had never even occurred to me to do it on myself. After all, I have theeee thickest eyebrows on the planet. I could pluck 'em every single day and they'd still need to be plucked. In fact, my husband is always saying how the Knudsons have the most distinctive look, and I'm always like, "What's the look???" And he finally pinpointed the obvious... "Huge eyebrows!" Thanks dude. Anyway... Let this be a lesson to you. Even us thick eye-browed people can still benefit from filling them in. It helps shape them and fill in the more sparse areas. I'm obsessed with this gimme BROW, by benefit. It blends in perfectly with my natural color, isn't over bearing, easy to work with and wipe off the mistakes, AND has a little gel to it to keep my long (yes I said long) brows in place. Sometimes they like to curl onto the skin underneath them. It's not sexy. It's way dumb. I get the medium/deep color. It's $22 and you can buy at Sephora, here.

2. K, I know I'm not the first person to fall in love with lululemon leggings, but this is for all the skeptics out there, because I was probably the biggest one of them all. "A hundred dollars for leggings?", I thought... Now that's just stuuuuupid. And I still feel like it is insane even typing it out. But let me tell you what, these Wonder Under Pants (roll downs) (in black), have got to be one of the highlights of my life! I'd be willing to drop $200, maybe $300 (okay that's pushing it... maybe) for these bad boys. After I had Everest, I just felt blah. My stomach was all stretched out and I felt so loose, well... everywhere! But these roll down (high-waisted) leggings seriously sucked all that in and made me feel skinny. And the price of feeling skinny when you're hormonal and tired and have a million dudes at your back for everything all the time? Priceless. I love that they don't have an elastic at the top of the waist band either which makes them suck in your tummy, without cutting it off, if that makes sense. They're so slimming yet so comfortable too. The perfect combo! I've worn and washed them a hundred times already and they look and fit exactly like they did the day I bought them. Also. the materiel doesn't get all bally looking (my biggest pet peeve!). They work whether you're at the gym, running errands, or for a night out on the town with a cute top. So versatile! Invest in a pair. It'll probably be the last pair of leggings you'll ever have to buy. FYI, they say to go up a size from what you normally are, but I went down a size. Nothing bugs me more than a baggy legging. You can buy them here, for $102, on lululemon's site. P.S. I have another pair of their leggings and have tried on almost all of their roll down ones, and I don't like any of them nearly as much as the exact legging I linked to, up there.

3. This Coconut + Lemon, Everyone Lotion, is the best allover body lotion for when I get out of the tub. Why? It smells AMAZING, like a full on beach experience, is the perfect consistency (not to heavy or light), has no weird chemicals or parabens in it, and is huge! Did I mention it smells amazing? I bought mine at Whole Foods for $9.99 or you can buy it online, here, from Target, for $9.99.

4. I've always been a lover of Mac eye shadow, but I particularly love this Pro Longwear Paint Pod eye shadow. It goes on creamy, is easy to blend, and dries in the prettiest shade. It stays on all day and I love the shimmer to it. I want it in every color. But you know... I ain't rich. I have it in the shade, Frozen Violet. You can buy here, for $21.00, on Sephora's website.

Hope you find these posts helpful or just fun. You can see the other two posts I've done, like this one, here and here, if you missed them!

Utah Style Icon Awards

I had the pleasure of attending the Utah Style Icon Awards last Saturday in a darling Loft at the Brick Canvas building in Alpine. The set up was off the hook! Everything and everyone was dressed in the party's theme- peaches and cream and it was all too adorable. The food was fancy (couldn't eat half of it because of dumb gluten, boo) and it was great catching up with friends and making new ones. I was so excited too to see my friend's fashion line there, Kingdom and State, promoting the launch of their new clothing line! Can I say amazing? Keep an eye out for that in the near future. And congratulations to the winners of the Style Icon Awards and thanks for being my date Jenna!

The Cutest Coat I've Ever Slipped On + Link Up!

I was contacted by eShakti to see if I would be interested in picking an item from their website to review on my blog.  First of all, let me tell you a little bit about this slice of awesomeness we call a store.  Not only do they have the cutest stuff ever, they can custom fit anything they sell to fit your body, and all for an affordable price.  They will also add sleeves and length to any of their items if you choose.  I wear garments so it's hard because so many dresses I find are either sleeveless or are too short, and sometimes having to wear t-shirts or leggings underneath a dress just isn't cool...  You catch what I'm puttin down?
So after debating what to pick for nearly a week (I couldn't decide, everything they have is adorable), I picked this black coat that they were able to customize to my measurements.  Not only is it comfortable, which is a must when carrying a baby in my arms everywhere I go, it is made primarily of rayon which is my absolute favorite material because it doesn't wrinkle and hangs nice.  AND it's the cutest coat I have ever owned.  That asymmetric cut?  A little bit shorter in the front, longer in the back.  Pure gold.  It's cute with leggings, jeans, or knee length skirts.  It fits like a dream and that Peter Pan collar is the cherry on top.  Everywhere I go, people comment on it.  It's priced more than I would normally spend on a coat at $159, but knowing now how much I love it, I'd totally have spent that much on it.  Why?  Well besides the reasons listed above, because I have worn it every day for two weeks and plan on wearing it everyday until Winter says bye bye.  Point being, it's worth every penny.
Go check out their shop here!  It looks like they are doing up to a 60% off until December 15th, and don't we all love a sale?

Birkenstock Love

I have wanted these Chania Birkenstocks for a couple years now but could never get myself to pay $130 for them, although I'm sure, unlike most shoes, they are worth every penny.  My dad used to buy us Birkies (as my mom would call them) when we were little.  They never wore out and were so comfortable.  In fact, I think my dad wore a pair of his Birkenstocks like my entire childhood.  I can still picture his feet in those puppies.  You really wore those out dad.  Embarrassing.  It's not like I've ever done anything like that with my beloved Tevas for the last five years or anything ;)  Well today is my lucky day.  I found the Chanias for $69.99 on Piperlime's 50% sale.
Goodbye Tevas.  Hello Birkies.
It's going to be a great five years (hopefully cuter years) of non-stop wear.

My Chaotic Thoughts as I sit here on My Due Date

Well people, today is my due date and the only thing missing is this baby.  When are you coming honey?  With things that have happened in the last couple days (I'll spare everyone the details, my husband says he's ruined), plus the walking and ball bouncing, I thought I'd for sure have had him by now.  Nope.  The plus side, I'm still feeling really good and just trying to relax and get as much rest before his arrival, but it's hard when I know it could be anytime.  All of our stuff is packed and ready to go, sitting by the front door.
I know this is the dumbest thing I have ever written, but now every time I go somewhere I feel the need to be ready just in case he decides to come, because who wants to go to the hospital looking nasty like I really do like 90% of the time because I'm just too lazy to get ready?  Not me... And don't even let that fool you, I'm not really getting ready, like putting on makeup getting ready.  Way too much work...  But just making myself look somewhat presentable, hair done (although maybe not washed?  TMI?), legs shaved, face washed.  As I said earlier, stupid thought, I could really care less about anything other than this baby getting here safe, but than I obviously do care a little bit about other silly things like that since I just wrote that.
In my downtime, trying to kill time, sometimes I shop (with about 20 pee sessions in public restrooms in between, gross, and scream sessions at the automatic flushers for getting me wet, I wasn't done yet dummy).  I shop not to buy things, but so I can have a reason to walk in hopes it puts me into labor because like I can walk outside in this 105 degree heat.  I'd be committed.
So... have you guys been to Marshalls?  It's a new store in Murray, they've got some fun stuff!  I seriously LOVE these bags...
Anything canvas with stripes I love right now.  Why?  Who knows...  But these are cute.  If they weren't $30 and $40 I maybe would have bought one.
Want to know what's not so cute?
My Tevas.
No seriously.  It's become a problem.  My Tevas love affair started a couple years ago when we went to St. George, and my feet were hurting as usual as we were shopping, so Wren suggested I buy some Tevas.  They were like $80 and I remember thinking, YA RIGHT.  Like I'm buying those ugly things for that much.  Well after trying them on I was like, the man's right, they're way comfortable.  Well so they story goes, I think I've worn them everyday since.  They now have paint on them from the whole house extravaganza, the Velcro isn't quite what it once was, and they snag any long pants or skirts that I wear.  Yes I wear them with skirts, as I said, it's a problem.  I have tried switching to other comfy shoes that look somewhat decent with a normal outfit, but none even compare comfort wise.
Well the other night as we were laying in bed (our bedtime convos are riveting I'll tell you what), we got talking about my Tevas and how replacing them might not be such a bad idea.  So we went to the Teva website and my oh my were we pleasantly surprised!
This one's pretty cute right?  I mean for a comfort shoe?
So here is what I am forced to conclude.  I will never get rid of, or not wear by beloved Tevas, at least until they wear out completely.  I've tried it, it's like a sickness, I'm too addicted to them.  BUT, I could get something like this that would look more appealing when it's time to actually get ready and wear a cute outfit.  I could rotate between the good and the bad.  Get it?
My minds not even comprehending what I'm writing anymore.
Well thanks for listening to me, as Journey once sung, go on and on and on and on.
It's been real.  Maybe next time I check in I'll have better news, like BABY NEWS?
Think labor thoughts everyone, pleasant labor thoughts, will you?
Let's bounce!  Like literally.  On my ball.

One More Week- 39 Weeks + Link Up!

Shirt: Forever21
Pants: Forever21 (anyone sick of these yet?  Baby and me sure ain't, even after white paint spilled all over the butt.  Ask us if that's stopped us...  Nope.)
Scarf: Forever21
Shoes: Ross Dress For Less

Guys... it's official.  My due date is one week away.  Count it on my chubby little finger, ONE.  Well technically one week and one day (July 12th), but who's counting right?  I really can't even believe it.  This pregnancy has flown by so fast and I don't think I could possibly feel any better this far along.  A big part of me feels like I should be more miserable because of the constant complaints I've heard from others of how horrible is gets at the end  It's definitely been a warmer summer than most, but I'm fine.  I still feel great.
Carrying this baby is the best.
I do have to say Wren and I will both miss having this sweet baby boy inside of me.  We love feeling him move throughout the day and I will miss the special bond I share with him in there.
BUT, I can't even wait to kiss his cheeks and squeeze his fat feet.
I will be the biggest stage five clinger this dude will ever have.
Babycenter says he is the size of a small watermelon (by the looks of this picture, I'd have to say a large watermelon), and probably weighs a little over seven pounds.
Next Wednesday, I may just be a mommy!
Thank you SO much for all the wise words of advice for delivery day.  I made a list of everything everyone recommended and it's all packed and ready to go.
You guys are awesome and helped a clueless mother out more than you'll ever know.  I feel much more prepared!  AND Wren will have a comfy place to sleep while at the hospital too.  I would never have thought to bring him blankets and pillows, so he thanks you for that as well!

38 Weeks, The Babe-It's Coming Soon + Link Up!

Shirt: Forever21
Pants: Forever21
Hat: PacSun
Shoes: Don't Remember

So meeting this little man is right around the corner.  I wake up at night and have myself convinced I'm going into labor even though I have no signs of it and feel completely fine.  It's just crazy that it could happen at any time.  I haven't been nervous for labor up until now.  And I think I'm just nervous that I'm not going to know when I need to go to the hospital.  I'm sure everyone who's had a baby is laughing thinking, "Uh, YOU'LL KNOW" cause it will hurt...  but it's just crazy because I still feel totally normal and fine.  I haven't gotten to the point where I'm uncomfortable like people say you get at the end and don't have any indicators that labor will happen soon.  Maybe that's why I'm nervous I won't know.  Who knows?  Not me.  One thing I do know (do you like how many times I can say know?  I do), the Babe-It (Wren's new name for him), moved pretty much from sun up to sun down yesterday.  I think he's ready to come meet the world already!
So... here's some questions for you mommies out there.  How did you know you were ready to have that baby?  Did it come fast?  Or slow, like days before?  Also, what did you pack in your bag to bring to the hospital?  I started my bag but don't know what the hospital will have and what I will need to bring.  Or what's something you wished you would have/wouldn't have brought?
OR JUST ANY ADVICE PERIOD FOR THAT BIG DAY OR EVEN THE DAYS AFTER!???
I would LOVE your wise advice!
One thing for sure is, I can't even wait to look into my baby's eyes.
AGH!

Oh and THANK YOU for all the sweet and amazing comments on our maternity pictures last week!
You sure know how to make this big old pregnant lady feel good.
I love you all!

Okay one more thing, anyone who knows Wren knows he sleeps frightened and anxious.  It's hilarious, I can't even say his name when he's dozing without him having a panic attack.  Well the other day I needed to ask him something and I didn't even know he was asleep so I said, "Hey Wren?" and he screams, "Theoretically", in a very panicked voice.
Oh man, that baby daddy is going to have some rough times over the next couple months getting woken up unexpectedly.
Bless his soul.

Gentleman Onesie Tutorial

I have been dying to make these onesies for my little babe for a awhile now.  Yesterday Jenna and I were at Hobby Lobby and one thing led to another and we ended up snagging everything to make these.
Here's what I did...
I bought two of these:
Hobby Lobby $3.99 each
And this:
Hobby Lobby $4.99
And 1/8 of a yard per each fabric:
Hobby Lobby $4.99 a yard, .62 cents each one
Total Cost: About $15.
Not bad, especially considering I only used a fraction of the interfacing and fabric.  I could probably make about 10 more onesies with what I have left if I bought more of the onesies themselves.
Now I...
cut out the shapes that I wanted for the tie, suspenders, and bow tie.  Stuck it to the interfacing right side up, cut the interfacing to fit my material, and stuck it to the onesie.  It's nice because the interfacing has a little bit of stick to it, so you can get everything exactly where you want it.  Once everything looks good, iron on for 10 to 20 seconds on cotton setting.
And wala!
You'll have yourself a very sophisticated look for that special man baby in your life!
Who said boys can't be cute too?
I'm dreaming of striped little leggings underneath, covering chubby little legs.
I can't WAIT!

The Funnest Of Finds!!! Seriously... Check it Out.

Okay are you guys ready to be blown away?

I will be the first to admit that I carry a special talent for finding good deals.
Have you guys heard of The Store?
It's off of 900 East and about 5445 South in Murray, Utah.  It's in the corner spot of a strip mall facing east, and is across the street and west of the Sports Mall if you know where that is.
I have found more AMAZING deals here than I should probably admit.
They sell used and new items and you can donate items there too.  It's like a glorified D.I.
WAY more glorified though.
It's love.
There's my friend in the back.  Haaaaay friend.  Love that guy :)
He has brought the price down on so many things for me.
Some treasures of note that I have found there...

This big solid wood desk and chair that I got down to $20.  I know I'm so dang awesome I can't even deal ;)
I painted it gray and have enjoyed it beyond belief.

This is my claim to fame right here babies.  I'm sure if you're an avid reader of my blog (which I hope you are) you have seen my milk glass dishes.  I got this whole set down from $150 to..... wait for it, wait for it, $25!!!  I could hardly contain my excitement.  All thanks to the dude in the first picture.  Again, LOVE him :)
There are even more pieces to this set not shown.  It really was the DEAL of the century.
My husband couldn't comprehend why I was so ecstatic.
C'mon honey, ya wives struck GOLD!

I got this bookshelf down to $30 thank you very much listed at like $200 or something.

This green little vintage candle was a measly .50 cents and I got two of them.
I am pretty much in love with em.  It's the little things that make life sweet right? :)

I got this little gem pea coat for $10 brand new.  To say I have over worn would be an understatement.
I get compliments every time I wear it.  I think it was marked at over $100.  It's the gift that keeps giving.

And this blessed little lamp was only $8.  It was brand new from Target and was normally like $80 or something preposterous like that.
These are just a FEW of the many marvelous deals I have encountered at The Store.
If you live in the Salt Lake Valley, how can you afford NOT to go?  If you go, you better let me know how you liked it :)

Next, I went to Aldo with Sara the other day and they had some mighty cute stuff there.  TONS of cute shoes and purses that were on sale.
I almost had a heart attack.
They had a million cute cute feather earrings.  These were all only $8-$10.  Such a steal!
Some of their jewelry was buy 2 for 1, so I go both these rings for $7 thank you very much!

Next, have you guys ever shopped at Sunflower Market?  If not... YOU MUST!  Their produce is out of this world, they have awesome granola and dried fruit in bins, and tons of natural items for a way good deal, plus all of your normal groceries only in healthy brands
The deal of the century I struck yesterday you ask?
Why all of their good skewers and marinated meat was only $3.99 to $4.99 per pound!
Boo ya, throw it in the oven and you done!
Their coconut pineapple chicken skewers are to die for.
So anyway, I got dinner for a week for like $15.
Go, go, go me!

And LAST for the most AMAZING deal of today.
My cute mommy is selling her red microfiber couch that she got only a year ago brand new and paid over a $1,000 for.  My family never sits in this room and my mom covered the couch with blankets all the time so it wouldn't get worn, so basically it really is like a brand new couch still.
Anyway, she is willing to sell it for $600!  What?  Yes.  It's a killer deal.  She may be willing to go down a little less if you can pick it up soon because she's re-doing her house and needs it out.

Anyway, here is a picture below to show you just how big it is.  Notice the blankets underneath us?  Ya she was anal about this couch.
PS Isn't my family adorable?
Anyway, email me if you're interested, she really is almost giving it away!

Well I hope you are able to check out these deals if you live in the area!
Have a GREAT WEEKEND!
